The decision to join L-SPARK
EssayJack joined L-SPARK’s second ever cohort back in 2016 when they were developing their beta product. They needed the rigour of business planning + the vocabulary of business to move beyond being product – and development-centric.

EssayJack was short-listed for the prestigious British Council & Cambridge English ELTon Awards (English Language Teaching) in the digital innovation category, and the judges called the platform “the most comprehensive essay structuring tool” that they’d ever encountered. They were one of five global finalists, and the only Canadian company to make the list.
October 2016
EssayJack formed a nation-wide distribution partnership with Nelson Education to sell their product in Canada from 2017 to 2019. They signed with them at the end of 2016, but got the MOU signed during their time at L-Spark (May 2016), and had their very first meeting with their VP, Partnerships at the L-SPARK office!
February 2016
They were featured on CBC’s Ottawa Morning radio show that gave them a much needed boost and helped their team to see the value of earned media as a driver of inbound traffic, and were then able to model out the value of earned media to their overall communications plan and strategy.
May 2016
Filed for EssayJack patents in a number of jurisdictions. On September 2019 the Singaporean patent was issued, and in May 2020 the USA patent was issued. A number of jurisdictions are still in progress.
July 2016
EssayJack graduated from L-SPARK Accelerator Program!
November 2016
EssayJack Founder, Lindy Ledehowski, was awarded a Silver Stevie Award for women in business in New York City at the awards ceremony.
December 2017
EssayJack closed their first external funding round. They raised $500CAD to create the fully institutionally-enabled EssayJack for bulk licenses.
September 2018
They closed their first full-school adoption in Asia, with 8,000 students in middle school and high school, specifically focusing on writing across the curriculum initiatives in non-English classes.
Summer 2019
Began to focus on direct-to-consumer subscriptions with a content-led growth strategy, building their domain authority and SEO rankings organically.
March 2020
Provided six months of free access to EssayJack due to COVID-19 and still saw year-over-year revenue growth in 2020 in comparison to 2021, topping 20k organic web traffic per month for the first time.
July 2021
EssayJack was officially acquired by Wize in Vancouver and joined the Wize family!
