Trevor Kennedy, CPA, CA, Managing Partner at Logan Katz LLP
Trevor began his career in public accounting in 2007 and obtained his Chartered Professional Accountant designation in 2010. He joined the Logan Katz partnership in 2018 and was made Managing Partner in 2020. Trevor has acquired experience in all areas of public accounting – among them, assurance, business advisory services, corporate and personal taxation, and processing claims for Scientific Research and Development Investment Tax Credits (SR&ED). This has exposed Trevor to many and varied industries.
Through partnerships with DMZ (Ryerson University accelerator), Startup Garage (University of Ottawa accelerator), Lead To Win (Carleton University accelerator), L-Spark (SaaS-based accelerator) and Invest Ottawa’s Pre-Accelerator and Accelerator programs, Trevor has developed an interest and expertise in all things tech (start-ups through to mature tech clients). Trevor has been involved with dealing with employee stock option plans (ESOPs), simple agreements for future equity (SAFE), convertible debt, SR&ED claims, capital gain exemption status, and many other tech-related issues.
Kyle Royer, CPA, CA, Manager of the Toronto Office at Logan Katz LLP
Kyle began his career in public accounting with Logan Katz in 2013 as a co-op student through Carleton University’s Sprott School of Business Program. Subsequent to his co-op placement, Kyle joined Logan Katz on a full-time basis in May 2015, and obtained his Chartered Professional Accountant designation in 2018. Kyle has acquired extensive experience in several multi-disciplinary areas of public accounting, including personal and corporate taxation, owner-manager remuneration and tax planning, assurance (review and audit) engagements, business advisory services, and processing claims for Scientific Research and Development Investment Tax Credits (SR&ED). This experience has exposed Kyle to a wide range of industries.
Kyle utilizes his expertise as Manager of the Logan Katz Toronto Office and works closely with the firm’s Toronto based clients. Through the firm’s partnerships with DMZ (Ryerson University accelerator), Kyle has also been able to offer his experience and knowledge to a number of the top tech start-ups as a Professional-in-Residence at The DMZ.
